IRS Fresh Start…doesn’t that sound great?
You’ve seen the TV ads and heard them on the radio too. The IRS Fresh Start Initiative…just what you need, right – a fresh start. You get someone to argue with the IRS on your behalf and they’ll feel sorry for you and just write off your debt, right?

Wrong.
The reality is, the country was in a hard recession and the IRS was having difficulty collecting tax debt in general. People were walking away from debt. For many, assets like a home were worth way less than the mortgage. In this light, it’s important to remember that the IRS is a debt collector and acts like one. Their job is to get every penny you owe them. And the really scary part is, they have virtually unlimited resources to collect what they think you owe them, one way or another. The IRS does not forgive tax debt...unless you can prove them wrong.

Here’s what those ads don’t tell you.
The Fresh Start program was a different tactic for the IRS to grab whatever amount of money they could get by making themselves sound like nice guys. Click on the IRS Fresh Start Program link here to read what’s on the IRS site. Note two characteristics on the page, the publish date and the message warning: Notice: Historical Content.

The Fresh Start Program was created to get consumers to respond to collection notices by making them think if they sign up to the Fresh Start program, the IRS would forgive tax debt. Remember, the IRS is a debt collector.

And while you’re on the IRS website, enter Fresh Start Program in the IRS site search bar and note nothing shows up in the search related to Fresh Start.

Buyer Beware!
Boiler Room Tax Resolution companies began using the IRS Fresh Start Program as a marketing tactic to get struggling taxpayers to think by hiring them, their tax debt would go away.

The services provided by many of these Boiler Room companies you see or hear about are not tax attorneys, and that severely limits their IRS negotiating powers. More than likely they are enrolled agents who’ve gone through IRS training or certification or even Certified Public Accountants. The truth is, they have only limited options to offer, and can only argue your case to a certain level. You’re just another number out of thousands.

It’s all about presentation.
A well-presented argument almost always finds favor in the courts and representing you and your situation properly calls for the most skilled and knowledgeable tax lawyer at your side. Larry Heinkel uses every method available to a tax attorney, including particularly savvy skill with an
Offer In Compromise or Payment Plan option.

And here a significant point: the costs between these limited option services and a qualified tax attorney like Larry Heinkel are comparable.

A Real Fresh Start.
For essentially the same cost as non-attorney tax resolution companies, you get a seasoned tax attorney with 35 plus years of experience negotiating with IRS agents, including successfully arguing cases in court against the IRS, while the others aren’t even allowed to represent you at that level. His success has been so impressive that a former IRS Appeals Officer Senior actually asked if he could work for Larry when the agent retires. How’s that for a testimonial? Plus, unlike others who offer assistance, only you and Larry have the protection of attorney/client privilege.

CPAs, registered agents, debt resolution agencies…they can only do so much. They offer hope. We offer results. So if you really do want a fresh start, start with the right solution for your tax debt problem – Tax Attorney Larry Heinkel. Schedule a Free “Learn More” conversation with me today!
